Celebrating 132 years
of ministry

What We Believe

  • The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God.

  • Jesus Christ is the son of God, our Savior and Redeemer.

  • Salvation is a gift of grace, received through faith.

  • The Holy Spirit empowers us to live Godly and fulfill our purpose.

  • The church is called to be the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

Our Vision

To glorify Christ as the head of the church by growing together in faith and love, building meaningful relationships, reaching out to serve the community, and living with Godly wisdom that guides and inspires future generations.

Ephesians 4:15–16 (NIV)
“Speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ…”

Our Church History

Rooted in Faith. Growing in Grace. Standing on Legacy.

Little Bethlehem Christian Church (LBCC) was established in the early spring of 1893 under the leadership of the late Rev. George Staples. What began as a small gathering of believers in a borrowed schoolhouse quickly grew into a movement of faith, perseverance, and community.

Despite being asked to relocate due to the name “Christian Disciples,” the early members did not waver. They worshiped in a humble structure known as Bush Harbor and later in a donated dwelling house, sitting on floor joists and gathering around a pulpit built on a hearth. These early sacrifices laid the spiritual foundation for the resilient and committed church family LBCC would become.

In 1894, a log cabin was built on the Galloway homestead, and by 1908, under Rev. John Hubbard’s leadership, a permanent frame church was erected on the current site. Through decades of growth, challenges, and transitions—including a devastating fire in 1929 and numerous leadership changes—LBCC continued to flourish. Each new chapter brought fresh anointing and deeper devotion.

In 1930, the current church structure was completed, and over time, significant renovations and expansions were made to accommodate the growing congregation. Under the 36-year pastorate of Rev. J.C. Hairston, classrooms were added, the basement expanded, and a heating system installed. Later, the church acquired additional property and remodeled facilities to serve a growing body of believers.

Under the leadership of Rev. Charles H. Wilson (1974–1990), the church saw continued spiritual and numerical growth. Enhancements included sanctuary and choir stand expansions, new furnishings, and the installation of air conditioning. Guest ministers were invited to proclaim the Gospel, and the church flourished with renewed energy.

In April 1992, Rev. Tony Sanders was called to serve as Pastor and was officially installed in May of that year. Under his leadership, LBCC experienced continued growth, both in number and in mission. With a focus on equipping believers, acquiring new tools for ministry, and casting vision for the future, the church stepped boldly into a new century of impact.

Today, Little Bethlehem Christian Church stands as a testimony to the power of faith, unity, and perseverance. As we look to the future, we remain committed to G.R.O.W.—growing in God, relationships, outreach, and wisdom. We honor our past, celebrate our present, and press forward toward the high calling of Christ Jesus.
